Important Notes

  • Extra Services: The additional fee for using our transportation service will be 2,000 per person. The expense of transportation is both ways. Srinagar will serve as the pick-up and drop-off location.
  • We have kept a buffer day in this itinerary. We will only charge for buffer day 2000 per person in case we use it
    during the trek. This is to account for any weather-related delays or if a team is tired and needs an extra day to push to a camp. But you will have to bear the expenses (food and stay) on your own for that extra day. The money will be collected by your trek leader only if we use the buffer day.
  • Please note that while we endeavor to assist all our clients in achieving their goals, there may be times your leader will decide to either delay or stop your ascent based on your medical conditions and AMS symptoms.
  • Offloading charges: In case you want us to carry your backpack, the cost per bag is Rs 2500/per bag. The maximum weight allowed is 10kg. Please note that only a proper trekking backpack will be allowed to offload. No trolly or suitcase will be allowed to offload. We strictly follow to adequately place the load on our ponies. The maximum weight on each pony will be 40kg as recommended by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department.
  •  There are often uncertainties regarding trekking in Kashmir. If you’re planning any trek in Kashmir, ensure you book flexible flight tickets that allow you to reschedule your flight at no added costs. These are readily available with most airlines.
  • Kindly ensure that you arrive at Srinagar before the afternoon on Day 1 so you can rest well before the next day.
  • It is mandatory for trekkers to carry a photocopy of their photo id along with the mandatory documents of the Medical Certificate and Disclaimer form. This is required for trek permissions before and during the trek.
  • Cameras are allowed during the trek but Drones are restricted.
  • You will be staying in tents on all days of the trek. Trekkers must make arrangements to stay in Srinagar before and at the end of the trek.
  • Please note that prepaid sim cards do not work in UT Jammu & Kashmir. Don’t forget your ID proof in original and 2 photocopies.
  • On Day 7, you’ll reach Srinagar between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. You can book your travel any time after 8 pm.

Tour Plan

DAY 1 Arrive at Sonamarg

Drive Duration: 3 hours | Drive Distance: 90 km | Altitude: 8957 ft

Your adventure begins as you arrive in Sonamarg, the enchanting "Meadow of Gold" nestled in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. This picturesque town serves as the starting point for the Kashmir Great Lakes trek. Take some time to rest and acclimate to the altitude, surrounded by stunning vistas of snow-capped mountains. Explore the beautiful surroundings, wander through the local market, and immerse yourself in the tranquil ambience of this incredible destination.

DAY 2 Sonmargh to Nichnai via Shekdur

Trek distance: 11 km | Trek Duration: 7-8 hours | Altitude: 11500 ft

After having breakfast, you will begin your trek from Sonamarg to Nichnai. The trail will take you through scenic meadows, dense forests, and small streams. The initial part of the trek involves a gradual ascent, and then you will pass through the Shekdur village. As you continue your journey, you will witness the breathtaking views of the Kashmir Valley and the surrounding peaks. Finally, you will reach Nichnai, a beautiful camping site nestled amidst lush green meadows.

DAY 3 Nichnai to Vishansar Lake via Nachnai Pass

Trek distance: 12 km | Trek Duration: 6-7 hours | Altitude: 12170 ft

On day 3, you will trek from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake, crossing the Nachnai Pass. The trail offers stunning views of the valleys, snow-clad peaks, and cascading waterfalls. The trek involves a steep climb to reach the Nachnai Pass. From the pass, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. After descending from the pass, you will reach the enchanting Vishansar Lake, known for its crystal clear waters and picturesque setting. You will camp near the lake for the night.

DAY 4 Vishansar Lake to Gadsar via Gadsar Pass

Trek distance: 14 km | Trek Duration: 9-10 hours | Altitude: 16400 ft

After breakfast, you will continue your trek from Vishansar Lake to Gadsar, crossing the Gadsar Pass. The trail will take you through meadows dotted with vibrant wildflowers and rocky terrains. You will ascend towards the Gadsar Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 4,250 meters. From the pass, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Gadsar Lake and the surrounding snow-covered peaks. As you descend from the pass you will reach the Gadsar Lake, a stunning high-altitude lake surrounded by picturesque landscapes. You will set up camp near the lake for the night.

DAY 5 Gadsar to Satsar

Trek distance: 9 km | Trek Duration: 6 hours | Altitude: 11840 ft

On day 5, you will trek from Gadsar to Satsar. The trail will take you through lush green meadows, alpine forests, and scenic valleys. As you proceed, you will pass by a series of seven beautiful lakes known as the Satsar Lakes. These lakes are nestled amidst the mountains and surrounded by meadows. You will have the opportunity to camp near one of these lakes and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

DAY 6 Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes via Zaj Pass

Trek distance: 11 km | Trek Duration: 6-7 hours | Altitude: 11730 ft

After breakfast, you will embark on a trek from Satsar to the Gangabal Twin Lakes, crossing the Zaj Pass. The trail involves a steep ascent towards the Zaj Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 3,600 meters. From the pass, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the Gangabal Lakes. Descending from the pass, you will reach the twin lakes of Gangabal, situated at the foothills of Mount Haramukh. The lakes are known for their pristine blue waters and picturesque surroundings. You will camp near the lakes for the night.

DAY 7 Gangabal to Naranag and Drive to Srinagar

Trek distance: 15 km | Trek Duration: 7 hours | Altitude: 6982 ft
Drive Duration: 3 hours | Drive Distance: 80 km

On the final day of the trek, you will start trek early in the morning from Gangabal to Naranag, and then proceed to Srinagar by road. The trail will take you through scenic meadows and forests. Naranag is an ancient village known for its historical significance and archaeological ruins. From Naranag, you will take a scenic drive back to Srinagar, where you can relax and explore the vibrant city.
